Johnson City TN
Johnson City, TN is the largest city in the tri-cities region of
Tennessee, and the seventh largest city in Tennessee. Located in
Washington County in eastern Tennessee, Johnson City is an
educational, entertainment, and cultural hub for the Tri-Cities
area. With award winning universities and schools, and beautiful
mountain surroundings, Johnson City TN, and the Tri-Cities area have
been named an “All American City,” and is also one of the best top
25-50 metro areas in which to live. The Washington County TN is also
very popular among retirees; it was named the #1 place to retire
due to the average cost of living, low crime rate, climate and
quality health care in Johnson City.
Economy
The economy of Johnson City TN and the Tri-Cities area has remained
steady for the past few years and it is expected to remain stable.
Many large companies have locations and satellites here. Companies
like Siemen’s, Eastman Chemical, General Shale, Harris-Tarkett, and
American Water Heater all do business in Johnson City TN and provide
jobs to many people in the area. The cost of living in the
Tri-Cities area is affordable due to low tax rates and no personal state
income tax.
Hospitals
The Johnson City Medical Center is located in Johnson City on North
State of Franklin Road. The city is also home to the Quillen College
of Medicine, a US New & World Report top ten medical school.
Johnson City also is home to a regional Veteran’s Hospital. All of these
medical centers come together to provide the city and the areas
surrounding with quality health care options.
Airports and Transportation
The Tri-Cities Regional Airport, located in Blountville, TN serves
the Tennessee and Virginia regional areas with non-stop flights to
Atlanta, Charlotte, Cincinnati, Detroit, Memphis and Orlando. Also
in nearby Knoxville, the McGhee Tyson Airport serves the area as
well.
Schools
There are ten schools in the Johnson City TN school district. The
Johnson City TN schools have a mission to promote excellence in their
students, and they achieve this goal by setting high standards,
having great student-teacher ratios and promoting new programs that
will help students. Johnson City is also home to East Tennessee
State University and Milligan College. |
